I love a good story. The word “mentor” traces back to Greek mythology, whereby the King of Ithaca, Odysseus, placed his son Telemachus under the guardianship of a man named Mentor, whose job was to protect and guide him. There was a bit of an intervention when the Greek goddess of wisdom Athena shape-shifted into a wiser version of Mentor to help Odysseus. There’s more to the story, but you get the gist of it.
I joined the WomenTech Network mentoring program last year and actively mentored two female powerhouses in tech. It’s an opportunity to give back to the tech community, and I learn a lot from my monthly discussions with Jen and Lynn.
Here’s the excellent news, the next mentoring cohort is now seeking applications from women in tech. This program is free-of-charge when you join the WomenTech Network, which offers a free and a $99 premium membership.
