I had Sal, a UK-based book writing colleague, ask me what it felt like to be a published author. It took me a minute to gather my thoughts. It wasn’t an over-the-top accomplishment for 3 years of writing 80 career planning blogs. My brain droppings gathered over 20,000 eyeballs on my website, LinkedIn, and Google business listings from current and potential clients.
I exhaled after going on a “think about” (it’s in the book) and shared: “Now, there’s the go-to-market plan execution for tech execs or aspiring ones to purchase the book, have them read it, and then write a review.”
The work is never done. If I thought 80 footnotes were time boogers, obtaining book reviews is the classical pushing a boulder uphill scenario. After contacting 70 people in my circle of clients, colleagues, and friends, I sold 26 books in the first week. I racked up a whopping 2 reviews = almost 10%. For some reason, Amazon didn’t consider 3 of the reviews forwarded to me. Oh well.
My husband is aiming for 10,000 sold books by the end of 2022. It helps to have a former sales executive in your corner to have a vision and go for it!
The book is meant for individuals to invest time in themselves, with exercises appearing at the end of 20 chapters. Wow, what a concept, spending time on yourself! Most of my exec clients don’t; they focus on their work. Time to turn that around as a life-work balance act (it’s in the book).

The US Post Office was closed in my Belltown neighborhood in Seattle today, I imagine, due to government employment challenges. I ventured 2 blocks to FedEx (heck, I’m a stockholder) to send my book to the US Library of Congress, which accepted my non-fiction memoir. Yep, my genre is called a memoir, even though a business book.
