80% of success is showing up in text with a QR code to register for Covid vaccine at UT Austin Health Science Center

80% of Success = Showing Up

Not that I’m a Woody Allen fan, but I’ll borrow a statement attributed to him: “80% of life is showing up.”

3 months ago, I posted on LinkedIn what a phenomenal effort — send the Covid vaccines to not only 340 million Americans but ultimately to all 7.8 billion inhabitants of planet Earth. Logistics is key. The Pfizer vaccine must be stored at 94 degrees below zero, which has posed logistical issues.

Yesterday, we drove over to the University of Texas Austin Gregory Gym. Not to play basketball or volleyball, but for something more exciting. After parking in the Brazos garage, we hitched a ride on the tuk-tuk and made our way up the stairs into the gym.

My husband Pat went to receive his 2nd Pfizer Covid vaccination. He’s in Phase 1B. I’m not age-wise, but my atrocious DNA ticks the box.

Pat casually mentioned to the young co-ed registering him, “Do you have any extra vaccinations for my wife?” Like they were running a special.

Guess they were!

I won the vaccination lottery by showing up. Career lesson, show up. Things happen. Oh, and have an influencer. Mine is Pat, who is yours?

I’m 1 in 7.8 billion and 1 in 340 million Americans. Nice to meet you.
